Last Thursday night, I had the great pleasure of attending a reception for Professional Women for the Cure hosted by Affiliate Founders Pam Versaggi and Brooke Burr at their gorgeous West End LRB offices.

Truth be told, right at 5:30 the skies opened and the rain came crashing down! I want to thank all the women who braved the elements to attend, and remind those who couldn’t make it that there’s still time! When you see the big “Professional Women for the Cure” banner at the Race on May 3, I hope you’ll take some time to thank those you know and work with for their support.

In addition to the great food (generously donated by Gallins Catering) and company (and the great funds raised by the generous women who attended), it was an evening full of particularly poignant moments. At one time, our Race Founders (Pam, Brooke, Cindy & Susan) were talking with our current and upcoming Race Chairs (Whitney & Anna Ball). The interchange was truly amazing–our founders were excited by the future they saw in our new volunteer leadership, and our current leaders were inspired by the connection they made with those who laid the foundation.

I found myself once again in awe over the passion I saw for our cause — it is obvious how vital, and how personal this is for so many. I once again was so very proud to be a part of Komen, and I invite you to join us.
